QSL Cards From the Eighth Area Call Buro

I was pleasantly surprised this weekend when an envelope of QSL cards arrived from the Eigth Area Call Buro. I have paper cards which I return for those who prefer them. I do however, require a self addressed stamped envelope. I make an exception when DX cards are concerned and sent through this bureau. .

I addressed my return cards yesterday as I sat at a picnic table in the nearby forest. I will get them in the mail in the next few days. My son invited me to dinner in the forest and had all the necessary items to go with grilled Salmon. There's nothing quite as tasty like food cooked on an open grill.

The weather has been blistering hot for way too long now. We deliberately waited till sunset for the temperature to drop below the 80 degree mark. It was pleasant as the sun dropped below the horizon and the moon slowly rose above the tree line. We had the place to ourselves and exited the park just before 10 PM.

My grandson and I had a great time climbing on some rocks and romping in the playground.

I thought this card was especially interesting: That's a BIG fish!

Good evening John, salmon in the park on the barbie sounds just fantastic. I try to see my son once a week and we meet at Starbucks for a coffee and some conversation. No grandson as of yet....he has to get married first...:) Sounded like a great evening and its very hot up with way as well. With the humidity it's around 44C!!
Have a good week John

Hello Mike,

Starbucks....one of my favorite places! Great choice for good coffee and good conversation!

The temperature here is about the same. I've been riding to town, on the bicycle, in the mornings before it rises to above the 90 degree ranges. The heat index here is also around 44 C in town. It's terrible to be outside when it's like this. Hope you're able to avoid it by using air conditioning whenever possible.

Watching the moon rise and listening to the owls was especially nice. I felt fortunate to spend time like this.

Hello Mike,

Everything is good here but extremely busy with local happenings in the valley. I miss my "radio time" but find it difficult to find "free time". Hopefully; I'll be back in the saddle soon with the DX. BTW/ Worked V31PA in Belize last night. My third time since March.

Twice on 12 meters and last night on 30 meters. It felt really good to bust the pile-up with 3 watts.
Looking forward to doing more of the same soon.

Thanks for your concern. It feels so good to move around now that I've become active again with the bike and short walks.
