OH3RM FINLAND

Been out riding the bike most of the day but tuned into 20 meters again this evening. I heard Marckus (OH3RM) calling CQ DX but he stopped, and in the clear space, I sent out my CQ. It's difficult for me to copy a DX station at around 25 wpm, but he immediately matched my speed and we exchanged the basics.

At about 17 wpm, I copied that he preferred the buro for QSL'ing. I said OK and he acknowledged my QRP status and wished me the best.

There's still plenty of sunshine this afternoon. I've had my DX fix for the day, so out again on the bike for more city riding before sunset.

Picture of the bike to come later:

Thanks Dick...sometimes I think I'm just lucky to be in the right place at the right time.

I was also hearing (I think) HA8IB in Hungary but he was sending about 50 wpm. Anything much over 25 and I get really frustrated. Hihi

I guess most of these guys fall into the "best in the world" category. I really don't know how they find people that can read them at those speeds.....

Perhaps I should invest in a "code reader"....just kidding. Hihi

As you were saying...they will slow down and match my speed. They have too...I just can't copy at those speeds.

Paul (PC4T) worked a US station on 15 meters the other day. Can't wait to get outdoors and back on 30 and 15. The bands have been really good lately.

Hi John, they keep on coming, very nice! I should listen more on 20 meter at night. Sometimes I do, but most of the time the band is closed. 15 meter is opening up more and more. I heard yesterday morning several JA stations on 15 meter. Have a good Easter weekend. 73 Paul

Good morning John, it was great that he came down to the 17 wpm. I have had in the past were the speed is in around 30 and I'm at 22. There was no slowing down and the contact was more or less lost due to speed and me not being able to copy. I find that in contests were the CQ contest station is flying and I have to hang around after the contact was made just to listen to make sure I did copy the info correctly.

Hello Mike,

I've even had to "double check" a DX Cluster at times. Hihi It was VERY nice of him to take a moment to see I had everything OK and say FB on the QRP. Gives me hope for future DX contacts.

It's amazing when I hear those "super fast" CQ's and hear all kinds of stations coming back at them at the same speed.

Believe it or not, I find a lazy QSO on 40 meters the most satisfying of all the QSO's.

Good conversation about music or the outdoors, throw in a bit about New York City or another big town and I'm perfectly content.

BTW/ You've got an interesting station there with the antenna restrictions etc. You do very well with it!
