My Morning DX Contact

I worked two familiar stations on 17 meters this morning. My first was FG5FR in Guadeloupe and soon followed by EW8O in Belarus. Neither of these stations were spotted on the cluster at the time.

Belarus has a harsh history because of the German invasion during WW2. The above church is dedicated to the memory of those lost at that time. The economy is mostly industrial products sold in Russia and almost everything in this country is ran by the "state".

Good evening john, I find it's a bonus getting the stations that have not been spotted. In the event you happen on these stations it's not at all busy. When a station gets spotted for setups like ours making contact is made a bit harder as there is a lineup of QRO stations.
Have a good week

Hello Mike,

Yes, I've arrived at the same conclusion about the clusters. Once the gates are opened, it's very difficult to compete with the BIG stations. It's also rare when I hear "QRP only" in a big pile up. I can probably count those times on my right hand. Hihi

However; I DO make a special effort to spot a good DX station on the "QRP Spots" website when I think there's a good chance other QRP ops can work them from here in North America. I think it gives us a little better playing field.

DX clusters are certainly a mixed blessing at best for us.
